Dr. Tim McLaughlin was born and raised in California. He attended the University of Utah on a basketball scholarship and was a member of the 1983 conference championship team that went to the Final 16 of the NCAA Tournament. He graduated with honors, and then attended the University Of Utah School Of Medicine.
After graduation from medical school in 1991, Dr. Tim McLaughlin completed a transitional internship at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Washington, from 1991 to 1992, and a residency in ophthalmology at Tulane University in New Orleans, from 1992 until 1995. In New Orleans he gained extensive experience in treating diseases of the eye at the Veterans Administration, Tulane, and Charity hospitals.
In July of 1996, Dr. Tim McLaughlin completed a one-year period of intensive study involving medical and surgical treatments of glaucoma in San Francisco. During this fellowship, he obtained expertise in laser and surgical techniques for treating glaucoma, including the implantation of drainage devices. He also gained valuable experience in small incision cataract surgery and anterior segment surgery.
Dr. Tim McLaughlin's interests include all aspects of the treatment of glaucoma as well as cataract surgery and general ophthalmology.
