He received his undergraduate degree, Science in Zoology, from the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL and his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, WI. He went on to complete an internship in Ophthalmology at Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee, WI and residency training at Dean A. McGee Eye Institute in Oklahoma City, OK.
